I dont have the same wood as the doors, to do samples on, but Ive used the conditioner and sampled Red Mahagony (way too purple and dark), Dark Walnut (too dark), Special Walnut (a contender), Gunstock (way too orange), English Chesnut (not too bad), Cherry (very light) Honey (very dark!? I wanted a cool brown with gray undertones, but every stain with gray in the title was just straight-up gray.

Minwax is my go to stain. I am definitely sharing this post with my clients. I am not crazy about the stain as it is leaving a green patina where the darker parts of the wood is.

Amazing photography as well. I really liked the way pine took pretty much every single stain, and of these four I actually think it was the most consistent and true to the color I expected. On the left half, I used Watcos Lacquer in Matte, and on the top right is the unfinished wood. We chose to experiment with this stain color because of its mid-range tint with red undertones. oleum varathane mahogany
