The fibre-bearing part of the nettle is the stem. Run the fan at full power. I would probably use pre-polished stones or naturally polished river stones just large enough to easily separate from the fibers.

Keep a track of how much water and stem you use, and how long to blend it for, so that you can repeat the same for each batch with less fiddling about. If you do not like the look of a sheet still on the mold, simply remove the deckle, turn the mould over and touch it to the surface of the vat - the the fibre will float away from the mesh, and you can stir it back into the mixture.
