windshield weather stripping coming off

so it seems like there will be a dealer visit soon. Due to safty issues concerning air bags, the front and rear glass should be secured on to prevent them from blowing out when the air bags deploy. i had mine replaced. So correct. Couldn't find anything inside the vehicle. AT4X versions of the GMC Sierra and Canyon. Had to buy some duct tape until I got to a parts store. Replaced mine too. CarMax has a five day full return policy and at least 30-day warranty (longer in some states). have mine sitting in the garage, old one is off & ready to go. We have an issue, on my son's '03 X. where the corners have split. windshield Thanksif that's the case, I may leave out the sealer/glue when I get to doing this. But I noticed that some butyl is used to seal the glass to the frame. This has happened to me more times than I can count. SUCKED.

The first time it happened, it scared the crap outta me too. The tear is in the lower corner of the windshield on the drivers side and moving across towards the passenger side. This is a warranty issue. After replacing, mine "whistled" in the wind, so I out some black gasket silicone under it along the top. The rubber gasket around the windshield is the seal that keeps water out. Also check with your auto insurance carrier and see if you have windshield coverage. It's just glued on. I just happened across this Permatex sealant, which looks like a better choice than that gasket maker I mentioned earlier! Just take it to a glass shop and get an estimate. Just looking at the pics, and at mine which isn't doing that, I'd guess that the rubber gasket was cut a little too long and installed with some longitudinal compression, which is making it bow up. That has never happened to me, but I did have a windshield changed once, and I put a new rubber around it. While we can kind of tuck it in and keep it down for awhile it eventually comes loose and is slowly coming apart more and more from the glass.
